The man page of ods-signer states that option `-1' will run the signer engine once and will then exit. While it exits, the signer is backgrounded. Adding `-d' to run the signer in the foreground causes the signer to keep running.
I was expecting that launching `ods-signerd -1 -c conf.xml' would launch it, have it do its thing and then cleanly exit.
